REPLICATION

Our replication services are performed on sophisticated industrial equipment and involves the production of an optical media from a polycarbonate mould using a stamper made from a glass master. Some people confuse replication with duplication. Duplication is very different to media replication because involves CD copying by means of automated CD duplicators. Replicated CD and DVD discs are obtained from a polycarbonate mould using a glass master created from your original master. Replicated discs have a clear metallized bottom side and they are those you find displayed at music stores or enclosed in periodicals. Duplicated discs have a slightly colored bottom side (green/blue/silver). The process of replication ends up with a high resolution silk-screen or offset printing on the media surface using 5 colors (4 colors of CMYK model + background color). The service is available for quantities over 300 units.

DUPLICATION

Duplication involves the recording of the data onto the CD/DVD using a laser and automated CD duplicators. Every copy undergoes various checks in order to control data integrity. The disc is customized by digital printing on its surface using special 4.800 dpi printers. Mechanical arms pass the media form duplicators to printers. If you need to keep costs down, you should choose this method since there are no setup and glass master creation charges, film and screen development costs. This method is cost-effective for short CD runs starting with 50 copies. For quantities over 500 units we recommend replication services since setup costs are compensated by lower unit cost.

CUSTOMIZED BLANK MEDIA

It is possible to customize the surface of blank optical media by silk-screen or offset printing. High resolution image is printed directly on the media surface using 5 colors (4 colors of CMYK model + background color). This cost effective industrial process enables to give your CDs a professional look by branding the face with your company logo and information. The difference between silk-screen and offset printing is in the printing technique. Silk-screen method involves the development of screens. A rubber blade is used to push the ink evenly into the screen openings and onto the paper below. Offset printing involves the transfer of the inked image from a plate first to a rubber blanket, then to the printing surface. Silk-screen printing produces clear and sharp-cut image. Offset printing can look far superior to a screen print if faded images are in the onbody artwork. The service is available for quantities over 300 units.
